The Kansas Skateboarding Foundation is seeking $25,000 in support of our S.K.A.T.E Program (Seeking Knowledge, Assistance, Training & Experience), a youth mentorship and education initiative serving underserved youth in Wichita, Kansas.

The S.K.A.T.E Program uses skateboarding as an entry point to provide mentorship, life-skills training, and creative education opportunities for youth who may not otherwise have access to structured programs. Through this initiative, participants will receive skateboarding instruction alongside workshops focused on entrepreneurship, graphic design, marketing, and screen printing.

The program is designed to help youth develop confidence, discipline, and practical skills that can translate into future career opportunities. In addition to skateboarding instruction, youth will participate in mentorship sessions that emphasize personal development, goal setting, and positive decision making.

Funding from the Wichita Community Foundation will support program equipment, instructor stipends, safety gear, workshop materials, and youth scholarships to ensure all participants can attend free of charge.

The program will serve approximately 150 youth during the first year and will prioritize students from underserved communities and those identified as at-risk for negative outcomes.

The Kansas Skateboarding Foundation has already served more than 1,000 youth through community events and programs and is continuing to expand opportunities for young people through skateboarding-based education and mentorship.
